Spiral heat exchangers for distilleries.
At the alcohol (bioethanol) plant, where ethanol is produced from starch-containing raw materials, the following technological cycles are used, where spiral heat exchangers are used:
- mixing the grinding of raw materials with hot water that comes out of the spiral heat exchanger heated to a temperature of 80-90 degrees. Water for mixing is heated in a spiral heat exchanger by supplying a heat agent (steam).
- spiral heat exchanger for cooling the wort after HDFO (hydroenzymatic treatment), containing 20-25% of dry substances from 90°C to 60°C (if a saccharifier is used) or to 32-35°C (in schemes that do not use dehydrator in technology).
- cooling of the wort from HDFO / heating of the mash before serving on the nutrient plate of the mash (distillation) column. In technology, it is called the recuperative spiral heat exchanger of the brewhouse.
Spiral heat exchangers have proven themselves very well when regulating the temperature of fermentation (fermentation) in fermentors instead of built-in coil heat exchangers inside. Due to the structural features of the location, the coil heat exchanger is difficult to wash and disinfect, which leads to microbiological contamination of the mash. The spiral heat exchanger outside the fermenter is well washed and disinfected. When washing the fermentation apparatus, water is pumped through a spiral heat exchanger.
Spiral heat exchangers have proven themselves well in recycling water supply systems (primary circuit) using natural sources that act as a coolant (pond, river, reservoir).
Heat exchangers with a removable cover are easily cleaned of dirt and can be used for heat transfer fluids with solid inclusions (within reasonable limits) or biological deposits, which eliminates the clogging of the path, as in plate heat exchangers.
Constructional features of the manufacture of spiral heat exchangers.
In order to strengthen the structure of the spiral heat exchanger, spacers are used between the sheets of the spiral heat exchanger - pins. The pins are made of a material similar to that of the spiral heat exchanger sheet. Fix the pins by welding to the sheet of the spiral heat exchanger.
