Shell and tube heat exchangers are a device consisting of a tube bundle that is attached to a tube sheet and a shell.
The pipe space and the space between the pipes are separated. The process takes place between the media that move in
the pipes and between the pipes.
Shell and tube heat exchangers are divided into:
- By the number of moves - for single-pass and multi-pass;
- By design - rigid, semi-rigid, non-rigid;
- By orientation in space - vertical, horizontal, inclined;
- In the direction of movement of the media - counter-flow, direct-flow, cross-flow.
Shell and tube heat exchangers operate over a wide range of temperatures, pressures and pH.
