Changing of the Scheme of Process Yeast Adding into Fermenters

January 24, 2022 / 16:40

The scheme of adding dry compressed process yeasts (as dry matter, directly from the cooler) operated by the enterprise is extremely non-effective, which the staff of the enterprise convinced of while filling B-206 fermenter (see 5.2). Application of the SUGGESTED scheme for yeast preparation made it possible to increase ethanol yield from 361.2l of 1 ton of grain to 374.9l, or by a factor of 1.04.

The suggested scheme encloses:

  • Scheme change of fermentation gases emission which are discharged from fermenter, in order to exclude the impact on yeast vital activity of fermentation gases extreme pressure;
  • Additional treatment of dry compressed yeast before its adding to the fermenter; yeasts were initially warmed-up to the temperature close to fermentation temperature and dissolved in fermented wort;
  • Biological decontamination of fermenter by means of antiseptics, unlike the operated thermal decontamination by live steam;
  • Exclusion of wash acidification by sulfuric acid.

The main point and method of measure implementation has been thoroughly explained while performing the 1st stage of the audit and need no additional explanations or comments.

Implementation of the suggested measure together with 7.1.8 measure implementation itself makes it possible to shorten fermentation time to 72 hours, which guarantees “unaccounted” economic benefit.
